“I have a dream”

The legendary speech by Martin Luther King Jr on August 28th 1963. The speech is a historical document but also a great example of rhythm and repetition in a speech. It became known as the I have a dream speech after its most famous repetition. But there are other great repetitions such as ‘100 Years later’, ‘Now is the time’ and ‘With this faith…’

As an amazing example of a high ethos and pathos this speech lifted the spirit of hundreds of thousands and played an instrumental role in the civil rights movement of the 60’s. Martin Luther King was killed on the 4th of April 1968 the day after his speech ‘I have been to the mountaintop’ in which he forecasted his own death.
